With the upcoming premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, @saidinstitute wanted to share this #throwbackthursday memory of the talented @danaigurira popularly known for her role as Okoye in the film series. Dec 2013, Applause Africa, landed our first magazine issue at @barnesandnoble as part of the "African Fusion" edition which featured Danai Gurira as the cover. In this featured issue, Gurira was promoting one of her first major roles as Adenike Balogun in Andrew Dosunmu's Mother of George. In this featured issue, Gurira shared that her goal was "to tell rich, objective stories from the African perspective." This is a notion that resonates very well with the @africandiasporaawards
